Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

1 Tim 4:12

Example in spirit refers to our character or attitude towards the things of God. Some believers are indifferent or lukewarm; some others are zealous and passionate whilst some more are cold and callous. As simple as attitudes may seem to us, God is interested in them and He wants you to be an example to other Christians in them. This is what the Lord addressed in the church of Ephesus in Rev 2:4.

Rev 2:4- ‘ Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love’. The problem with the Ephesian church was that it had lost their fire and passion for the Lord. What they were doing was just going through emotions but the love that was in their heart for the Lord was gone. Their story is not different from what many Christians are experiencing today. They only go to church because they have to be there but not because they love the Lord, no wonder many of them have to be persuaded before they go to church.

In these last days, the Word of God has prophesied that the love of many shall grow cold but you need to be an example to believers in spirit. You need to sensitive to the leadings of the Spirit of God and yield to his promptings. When He prompts you to wake up and pray don’t postponed it. When He stirs you up to study the Word, don’t give excuses. Live a Christian life worthy of emulation.

Don’t start on fire and get cold later. Be determined to be afire for the Lord always.

I am an example to believers in word, conduct, love, spirit, faith and purity. My life is a motivation to everyone around me. By the way I behave, they have opportunity to encounter Jesus and know how God wants them to conduct themselves.
