Day 309| November 4, 2020 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Matt 10:16

The Christian is sent as a sheep, but being a sheep in the midst of wolves doesn’t suggest vulnerability. Being a sheep doesn’t mean being weak at all. The Christian is not weak neither is he subject to the wolves (the devil and his children). It is only towards the master he is supposed to be a sheep. Our verse for today says we should be harmless. For the master to tell us to be harmless implies we could be harmful to the world.

Just as the master portrayed in his earth walk as a lamb and later in his second coming as a lion so are we. We are offsprings of the lion of the tribe of Judah with a superior life to the devil and his cohorts. The Lord clearly exhibited this when he told his disciples they have authority over all the powers of the enemy and they will never be able to harm them in any case.

As doves, the believer should maintain the meekness, innocency and purity of character gifted him by his Father in heaven. This means being gentle towards all men clothed with the spirit of heaven and radiating the love of God in your eyes. Christians shouldn’t be racist, giving preference to the persons of people based on race, color, belief or nationality. We accept the persons of all people and become all things to all people in order to win them for Christ.

The character of the dove is a gentle and sweet spirit. A life full of love, joy and grace inexpressible, devoid of hate and bitterness. A calm and humble attitude full of life with no hypocrisy, stress and selfishness is the true life of a Christian. Be harmless as a dove. These are the attributes (fruit) Christ produces in us that no other ‘religion’ can offer its members. For by this shall all men know we are his disciples.

I am full of the Love of God; I am full of the unspeakable joy of God. I am meek, gentle and love personified. I heal the world with the power of the grace of my father that flows through me.
