Day 359| December 24, 2020 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

1 Peter 5:6-7

This is one thing many Christians have failed to do majorly because of ignorance. We have been taught humility towards our fellow men but not towards God but this is an important key in relating well with God. Without learning this truth, it might sometimes seem that God is missing in your life. If you occasionally lose touch with the Lord, study this particular devotional diligently to remain permanently in touch.

Our God and Father has chosen by his eternal counsel to relate and raise us by His Word and His Spirit and both are invisible to the natural senses to make His children learn to live by faith. For without faith it is impossible to please Him. Humility with God is saying yes to the choices of God and yielding without having any reservations. In other words, when one is said to be humble towards God, this person esteems the Word and the Spirit of God as final authority in his/her life although he doesn’t feel it in the natural sense.

When they read the Word of God that says God has made them rich, well, masters of devils etc. they say yes I am rich, well and master of devils. They don’t have ‘ifs and buts’. To say God said this but my case is different is not being humble toward God. If God said it, that word should be final in your life. Don’t argue with the word of God, that is not being humble. If you don’t get it, study some more but when you know it, never argue or doubt it.

One sign for identifying people who are not humble toward God is worry according to our opening verse. If you have any issue in life, the Bible says cast it all on the Lord for He cares. Refusing to give it to the Lord is pride. When you give it to the Lord and worry too, you are not being humble. In conclusion, resisting, doubting or acting contrary to the Word of God you know is not being humble toward God. Your attitude toward the Lord should always be Yes! Because His Word for you is always yes (2 Cor 1:19-20).

I humble myself to the Word and Spirit of God. The Word and Spirit of God have final authority in my life in every area and subject matter. I don’t argue the Word I submit to the Word!
