Day 318| November 13, 2020 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

Dearly loved friends, I had been planning to write you some thoughts about the salvation God has given us, but now I find I must write of something else instead, urging you to stoutly defend the truth that God gave once for all to his people to keep without change through the years.

Jude 3-4

To save the world, the Lord Jesus had to give up His life through a painful death. It wasn’t easy, but family had it not been for that sacrifice; none of us would have been saved. It was such a challenging moment that the master wished for another possible way of accomplishing the Father’s desire. But it seemed that was the only way so He said “not my will but your will”. He went through tremendous pain so we can have a glorious gain.

After the master, it was the turn of the Apostles to carry the gospel to the world. Everywhere they went they were resisted. They were often arrested and many lashes were laid on their backs yet they never lost momentum carrying the gospel to their world. They kept the faith. They counted it a blessing to suffer in the name of the Lord (Acts 5:41). No amount of trouble could get them bored, in their bid of contending for the gospel. That was how the Good news got to us. Listen to Apostle Paul:

2 Cor 11:24-27 Five different times the Jews gave me their terrible thirty-nine lashes. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked. Once I was in the open sea all night and the whole next day. I have traveled many weary miles and have been often in great danger from flooded rivers and from robbers and from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the hands of the Gentiles. I have faced grave dangers from mobs in the cities and from death in the deserts and in the stormy seas and from men who claim to be brothers in Christ but are not.

2 Tim 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

It is our turn now! We are to fight the good fight as well. Every Christian must actively be involved in the spreading of the gospel, without us there’s no hope for the world. To do this we must sacrifice precious time, energy and resources to get the Word out. It must cost us something valuable and we must make sure the baton gets to the next generation and the whole world. Remember the value of a single human soul is worth more than anything we can sacrifice to get it saved!

I contend for the gospel, I am actively involved in the spreading of the gospel. Nothing is too much for me to sacrifice for the spreading of the gospel.
