Day 11 | January 11, 2021 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)

I remember a gentleman I heard praying once about his position in heaven. He was like; 'God I am the head and not the tail, I am counted as a faithful minister of the Lord above Apostles Peter and Paul in the name of Jesus'. Let me ask a question, will he be that great because he prayed it? Not really! The only thing that can happen is for grace to be given him to be able to live out more for the Lord in obedience but to yield to the Lord and His will is his responsibility to do and not to be received (Matt 20:21-23, 1 Peter 5:1-5).

Instead of getting to know the Word of God to make our lives simpler, many have gone ahead to do what seems good to them rather. And then when things don't seem to work properly for them, they say Christianity is a crazily difficult endeavor using their experiences as the measure of what Christianity is like. But we need to understand that the gospel is not our idea it is God's idea (John 3:16). If you don't hear God out, you will do many things thinking you are pleasing God when in actual sense it was just a simple belief of God that was required and vice versa.

An example is what many call today as 'paying the price'. A critical look at the prices they are paying in the light of the gospel shows that many are paying what has already been paid for and rather believing for what they ought to be doing. Let's look at this, how much good can we do to purchase the power of God or the gift of the Spirit. The answer is obvious, nothing we can give will be enough to equate the price of the Holy Spirit. We are not buying Him from God or paying a price when we make time to pray and wait on God. It is just the disposition a man must have to be able to receive from God but not a price.

Learn to do the things of God God's way. Don't try to help God or make him better in any way. If He says study to show yourself approved, don't just confess that you know the Word and go to bed. You will not know the Word this way. When God says preach the gospel, it is not a gift from God to be received. It is an instruction that ought to be followed and that obedience has rewards with God (1 Cor 3:12-15, Rev 22:12).

I do what God says I should do and believe what He says I should believe. I do God's things God's way.
