"Oh, that My people would listen to Me…He would have fed them also with the finest of wheat; And with honey from the rock I would have satisfied you."
Ps 81:13, 16
Our opening verse is one of the most mind blowing verses in the whole of the Bible. God said if his people would have listened to him; He would have given them ‘honey from the rock’. The first time I heard this verse, I was like “how?, honey from where?, rock? ” yes! God said He was ready to give his people streams of honey from the rock if they had believed Him to be their authentic source.
This would have been difficult to understand if I had never read of God giving water from the rock (Deut. 8:15, Ex 17:6), food (manna) from heaven for 40 years not missing for a single day (Ex 16) except for Sabbath days. God also served his people meat in the wilderness when they never had poultry farms. The God of our Lord Jesus, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is a God of all possibilities!
Never fear men neither make any man your source. When they are a blessing to you, it is because God ordered them. God said He had given orders to a widow to feed Elijah in a time of famine yet the woman was not aware of the prophet ( 1 Kings 17:9-16). Meaning God instructing people is not only in giving them an audible voice, it is also in controlling their hearts to favour you when you need them. When you rely on God as your source, He will order people to give to you miraculously even when they don’t know you. That is making honey flow from the rock or food fall from heaven.
If men will not give to you, you will pick it from the ground. If you don’t pick it from the ground, God will rain it down from heaven directly. There is nothing our God cannot do. Make him your sole source and begin to see all else as distributive channels by which God releases his blessings into your life. When you know this truth you will cease getting disappointed by men and focus on God. Then you will learn how to receive from God.
