for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?
1 Corinthians 3:3 (NKJV)
Natural growth is when a person increases in height and size (stature physically) but spiritual growth is when you move from being worldly to being Godly. So far as you conform to the standards and patterns of this world contrary to the patterns of God, you are worldly or fleshy. Apostle Paul didn't mince words; fights, divisions, jealousy and envy are signs that you are still worldly or carnal. Gossip, speaking evil, lies and being malicious means you are still a baby Christian (1 Peter 2:1-2).
Romans 8:14 (NKJV) says: 'For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God'. The Greek word for sons is 'HUIOS' meaning matured sons not just any child. So in context, if you are not led by the Spirit of God it doesn't mean you are not a child of God. It means you are not a matured son of God. Only matured sons of God are led by the Spirit of God infants are controlled by their flesh.
When you feed on the Word of God, your mind is renewed from the carnal way of seeing and doing things (carnality) to the God way of seeing and living (Godliness). So where as you feared devils, suddenly the Word of God kills your fears and empowers you to cast them out, moving you from the low fleshy life of demonic attacks to the triumphant life of the sons of God.
In the same light, feeding on the Word empowers you to live the divine life of Faith, Hope and Love without struggle. Doubt, hopelessness and Hate becomes a thing of the past. Tit for tat, bitterness, unforgiveness, fear and envy which are common traits of the world gets dismissed by the light of God's Word in your heart. Feed on the Word consistently and grow yourself out of carnality.
