Day 347| December 11, 2020 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

‘Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.’

Luke 2:36-37

To never depart from the temple is to have an insatiable desire for God. It means being constantly in fellowship; fellowship with the Word and the people of God and never getting satisfied. As we know, the temple is the place the people of God met to pray and fellowship and in those meetings, the word of God is taught and iron sharpens iron.

People who are in a hurry for service to close will hardly hear God. It is an indication of where their hearts are. Their hearts are fast running after other things either than God. People who always want the sermon to end quickly are saying ‘enough with the word of God .’ Such people will have a hard time hearing and seeing from the Spirit of God. The Bible says: ‘Draw near to God and He will draw near to you’ -James 4:8

This is the reason new Christians turn to have encounters with the Lord and hear Him more than many older Christians. The older Christians are used to the order of service and are in a hurry to rush through the service but the new ones are seeking more of God like Anna the prophetess as we see in our opening verse.

‘Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls’ Ps 42:7. If you want to see the deep things of God, let your desire for the things of God be deep.

A friend of mine spoke of an encounter He had with the Lord Jesus. He had become so desirous for more of God that He will not go home after church service. He started staying in church till the next morning after service. One of the days, the Lord appeared to him in the Assemblies of God church and gave him words that would later be the reason for him being in the ministry. To all people who prove to want the voice of the Lord, it would never be hidden from them.

If you have gotten cold by not desiring more of God, change today. Reorganize your priorities, begin to go after the Lord more and more. Start loving and going for Christian meetings. Start listening and watching Christian messages. Develop an insatiable desire for God and He you will experience Him in your life beyond your wildest dream.

I have an insatiable desire for God and His Word. I love and go for Christian meetings because in these meetings I hear the Word of the Lord and I am sharpened by other brethren.
