so don't be surprised at my statement that you must be born again!
John 3:7 (TLB)
Over the years, I have met some very good people who are not born again. They are often surprised when they are told they need to receive Jesus as their Lord and personal saviour. Their every so often predictable question is “I don’t smoke, steal, lie or fornicate…so why do I need Jesus?” They are surprised that with all their high moral standards they would still need a saviour. This was the case with Nicodemus the man Jesus spoke our opening verse to.
Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a member of the supreme judicial and administrative council of the Jews. Pharisees were noted for strictest obedience to Jewish traditions, the name is of a Hebrew origin and it actually means ‘to separate’ . This sect thought to separate themselves from the evil and corruption in the world beyond the level many religious people are able to attain today. Nicodemus was that kind of a person Jesus told needed salvation.
Listen to a prayer of one of them and you will understand how Pharisees lived. Luke 18:11-12 ‘I thank you, God, that I am not a sinner like everyone else. For I don't cheat, I don't sin, and I don't commit adultery. I'm certainly not like that tax collector! I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.' Very proud religious people like some people today. The fact that you don’t do wrong doesn’t make you acceptable before God. At your best, your good deeds are like filthy rags (Isa 64:6). This is the reason you need a perfect righteousness from God which comes through receiving the Lord Jesus.
Relying on one’s goodness will end in disaster. There’s no one on earth today who can qualify on their own merit; we all need a saviour, a saviour who will acquit all of us, absolving all our wrongs. Like Apostle Paul Phil 3:8-9…I have put aside all else, counting it worth less than nothing, in order that I can have Christ, and become one with him, no longer counting on being saved by being good enough or by obeying God's laws, but by trusting Christ to save me; for God's way of making us right with himself depends on faith-counting on Christ alone.

// 🗣SAY BY FAITH
Jesus Christ is my all in all, He is my Life and my righteousness. I don't have any life outside of Him. He is my rule and pass before God. My good and wrongs are all lost in Him.
