For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory
2 Cor 4:17
The Lord Jesus told his disciples they are going to be blessed in everything they give up for God and at the same time they would have persecutions. Many Christians love the blessings but not the persecution. But this persecutions work for us an eternal weight of glory. What blessings we get on earth can never come closer to what we shall receive in Heaven for suffering for Christ. No wonder the apostle in our opening verse calls persecution a light affliction. No matter what pain you go through in life because of the gospel of our Lord Jesus compared to your reward in Heaven it is a light affliction.
It is amazing the apostle will call the kind of things He suffered for the gospel light affliction. See some of the things He catalogued and you will understand they were not just comparable to what some Christians are going through and they have given up hope and crying.
2 Cor 11:23-28 (TLB): 'I have worked harder, been put in jail more often, been whipped times without number, and faced death again and again and again. 24 Five different times the Jews gave me their terrible thirty-nine lashes. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked. Once I was in the open sea all night and the whole next day. 26 I have traveled many weary miles and have been often in great danger from flooded rivers and from robbers and from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the hands of the Gentiles. I have faced grave dangers from mobs in the cities and from death in the deserts and in the stormy seas and from men who claim to be brothers in Christ but are not. 27 I have lived with weariness and pain and sleepless nights. Often I have been hungry and thirsty and have gone without food; often I have shivered with cold, without enough clothing to keep me warm. 28 Then, besides all this, I have the constant worry of how the churches are getting along'
I once heard a pastor say He is going to quit preaching because of insults. Immediately I knew He didn’t know the blessings awaiting him for the persecution. If He knew, He would have celebrated as the master said in Matthew 5:11-12 "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you”. Don’t let the attacks of men and the difficulties associated with preaching prevent you from your blessings they are just some light afflictions.

// 🗣️SAY BY FAITH
I rejoice at persecutions because they work for me an exceeding great reward in Heaven. I don’t give up faith because of the attacks of men but I press daily towards fulfilling all God has given me.
