But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Matthew 6:7 (KJV)
All over the world people pray but most people don't know what it is to pray. Every religion in the world claim to pray to God and this is what has made prayer a confusing thing for most children of God. The practices of other beliefs have crept into the ways many Christians pray subtly and this has made it necessary that we define what Prayer is in Christianity and it's essence for the child of God in modern times.
Prayer is a deep, holy love affair with God, our Father. It is a heart to heart interaction and participation with divinity. Prayer is not the uttering of gibberish to an unknown God as many think and suggest by their conduct. In Christianity, you are not praying no matter what you say if your heart is not involved. Until what you are saying is a product of your heart, you are only observing a religious exercise that is wholly unprofitable. Praying without your heart involved is what we refer to us mechanical prayers. It is like a computer programmed to say 'Jesus is Lord' it can be put on repeat for hundred years it will never be saved.
When the Lord Jesus taught on prayer as seen by our opening verse, he first corrected the idea of making prayer mechanical. Said differently, the Lord said your prayers are not answered by the number of times you say them. Saying the same thing ten times or a hundred times or even a million times doesn't guarantee answers. In the same light, we don't receive answers because we shouted. I know some people pray with normal voice when the issues they are handling are normal for them but begin to yell when they think it is bigger than them.
Prayer is all about the faith and love relationship we have established with our Father in Heaven and how we can extend that grace on everything we face. The significance of prayer is therefore not its length, how long you repeat your petition or how loud you shout especially in the eyes of others; it’s the beauty of fellowshipping with the Most High, away from everything else. That fellowship enriches and strengthens your spirit, while improving your life in a tremendous way to change things in your favour.
________
// 🗣 SAY BY FAITH
I don't have answers to prayers by how long I repeat my petition or shout it. I have answers because of my relationship and faith with my Father in Heaven.
