Day 300| October 26, 2020 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

"The law of Moses says, 'If a man gouges out another's eye, he must pay with his own eye. If a tooth gets knocked out, knock out the tooth of the one who did it.' But I say: Don't resist violence! If you are slapped on one cheek, turn the other too.

Matt 5:38-39 TLB

The Lord Jesus is the Father's Love to the world (John 3:16). By his sacrifice on the cross, we could tell the value of man to God, because what you are ready to part ways with in receiving another thing is the real value of what you receive to you. Not only that, Jesus is also the way, truth and the Life Christians are required to live. Any life lived outside his example and what He taught is a wrong way, a lie and has no life in it.

In our opening verse, the Master teaches us not to repay evil with evil. He teaches us to walk in a kind of Love that is rare to the world, that a man who is slapped should send the other cheek too. To the world, this is madness, but this is the love the Christian is called to walk in. There’s no room in our kingdom for retaliation. Vengeance is the sole responsibility of our Heavenly Father (Rom 12:19).

No matter what is said or done against a child of God, there’s no room for retaliation! Rom 12:19-20 (TLB) Dear friends, never avenge yourselves. Leave that to God, for he has said that he will repay those who deserve it. [Don't take the law into your own hands. ] Instead, feed your enemy if he is hungry. If he is thirsty give him something to drink and you will be "heaping coals of fire on his head." In other words, he will feel ashamed of himself for what he has done to you.

Not only did the Lord teach this, He also demonstrated it at his weakest moment. Few minutes before his death, the soldiers were maltreating him yet He couldn’t plan a revenge. All He did was to pray for them: Luke 23:34 (TLB) "Father, forgive these people," Jesus said, "for they don't know what they are doing." If this was the master's teaching and life, family we can’t have it any other way. Let us free anyone who has hurt us from our hearts and let them go. Remember, you are to pay evil with good not evil!

I hold no grudge against anyone! I don’t repay evil with evil! I only repay evil with good just as my master did when He was on the earth.
