Day 291| October 17, 2020 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."

Matt 9:37-38

Imagine a field of ripe maize the size of 10 football stadia to be harvested by only 2 people manually, how long do you think it will take for them to get the job done? What if the fields were increased to football fields and it is still left for only 2 people to work it? This picture is similar to the state of the world with respect to the gospel of the Lord Jesus, and amazingly, without the gospel no one is getting saved. No other way can get anybody saved. That is what makes our opening verse very important.

The salvation of this world is based on the message of the Lord Jesus taking the place of Sin and the world taking his place of righteousness and glory. Anyone who believes and declares Jesus as is Lord and saviour is saved and anyone who doesn’t is condemn or stays in their sin (John 3:18, Mark 16:16). God’s business now is getting everyone saved. He is hiring as many of his children as possible into this field for this assignment and He doesn’t leave them alone, He works with them to achieve this goal of His.

We are commissioned by the master to pray for laborers into this field since the harvest far exceeds the workmen. But how can you pray this prayer when you are not actively laboring in the field of God yourself. The work of winning souls is not just for a selected few it is for every Christian. The harvest truly is plenteous but the workers are not enough. The whole world boasting in their pride are lost and condemned for hell and it takes our agency to restore life and hope through the gospel. Wherever you find yourself don’t shut up, pray for people to have more laborers sent to them and start by being an active laborer yourself.

I am an active co-laborer with the Lord in the field of souls. I spent significant amount of my time in soul-wining and I refuse to allow anyone I know die without hearing of the saving grace of the Lord Jesus.
