_______
They worshiped together regularly at the Temple each day, met in small groups in homes for Communion, and shared their meals with great joy and thankfulness, 47 praising God. The whole city was favorable to them, and each day God added to them all who were being saved.
Acts 2:46-47 TLB
One of of the easiest features of the early church to notice is their continues and consistent fellowships. Several times in the book of Acts, we see the use of the word 'Continued or continual' in connection with their fellowships. The Ananias and Sapphira accounts in chapter 5 shows the early church had their meetings not only on daily basis but also for several hours- Acts 5:1-7. This can partly account for the great impact they had in their time and it also reiterates the essence of right consistent fellowship in the faith.
Hebrews 10:23-25 (KJV)
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
When we meet, it is essentially to build and strengthen our faith in the Lord by learning of Him (vs 23), learn from one another to provoke us to walk more in love (vs 24) and to encourage ourselves for life. This is the reason the early church thrived in their days. When we stop meeting as children of God, our faith suffers, our morale shrinks and soon our impact is lost.
Unfortunately, one of the commonest criticisms that keeps coming to the church is the lie that we spend too much time in Church instead of working and it is propagated by people who spend regular hours in night clubs. Shockingly, many Christians seem to buy into the idea. Continues and consistent fellowship is one of the ingredients of the faith-life to keep you afire to fulfil the divine mandate. Never downplay it's place I. Your life.
The only problem with many Christian meetings today is that most have the wrong focus, either than that, there's no wrong at all with it. Instead of learning the Word of God, many of the continues meetings are just for catching and killing witches especially in Africa. This ought not to be so! Have continues regular meeting to study the doctrines of Christ, learn of the faith, fellowship with the brethren, to pray and win the world as a team.
