They strengthened the souls of the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith, saying, “We must enter the kingdom of God through many persecutions.”
Act 14:22 NET
One of the areas of the gospel many preachers have refused to emphasize is the area of persecution. They easily talk about what we have in Christ, Realities of the New Creation and the blessings of the Lord that makes life good but scarcely let the Christian especially the new ones know of the promised attacks and persecution that comes to all who live uncompromisingly for God.
It is written: 2Ti 3:12 KJV 'Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution'. There are no ifs or buts with the above promise. So long as you are determined to live for God, you will get your share of persecution and you must brace yourself up for it.
It is infantile to think suffering or going through a hard time with people means you are not in touch with God. The decision to be a Christian is also a decision to go through anything for Jesus and a set up for the world to attack you. Get this admonishment from Apostle Peter:
(1Pe 4:12-16 Darby) Beloved, take not as strange the fire of persecution which has taken place amongst you for your trial, as if a strange thing was happening to you; 13 but as ye have share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, that in the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exultation. 14 If ye are reproached in the name of Christ, blessed are ye ; for the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you: on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified. 15 Let none of you suffer indeed as murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or as overseer of other people's matters; 16 but if as a christian, let him not be ashamed, but glorify God in this name.
