Day 315| November 10, 2020 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

"No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."

Luke 16:13

To serve someone in simple terms means to work for the person. It also means to be employed by a person or a thing. And as we know, being employed by someone means the person has control over you to determine what you do with your energies and time. This is what the master was referring to when He spoke our opening verse. He said emphatically that no one can serve God and money simultaneously. In other Words, your pursuit in life cannot be about God and money, you need to choose one.

You have to choose one and stay with it. If you are working for money, work for money. If you are working for God work for God, don’t do the two at the same time. Now, this doesn’t mean if you are not a pastor or a man of God you are a servant of money; It means what is controlling you. If the pursuit of money controls you more than God does, you are employed by money. For example we have people who love the Lord but will use dubious means to make money; such people are employed by money not God. Others can miss church for money but not money for church.

There are even people in the ministry who are not serving God but money. They do ministry that will yield money not what God wants them to do. They go only to places that will benefit them financially not what will benefit the Kingdom of God, money is what leads them. But this ought not to be so. We are to serve God and He will bless us with the money and not the vice versa. The master said in Matt 6:33: ‘But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.'

If we shall be resolved to allow God control our lives, money won’t be a problem. ‘Matt 6:33’ is a verse with a promise and it was spoken by Jesus himself. If God leads us, money will follow. But if money leads us, God will be missing. Be resolved to be an ardent servant of God and all the things people are struggling to get shall be given to you for free!

I am resolved to serve only God all the days of my life. God shall be the controller of my time and energies.
