And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
Romans 4:19-20 (KJV)
The Christian life is a walk of faith- 2 Cor 5:7. Without it, we can't please God neither can we ask and receive from Him -James 1:6-7. Faith is one of the main reasons the patriarchs of old had testimonies with God-Heb 11:2, such that a whole chapter in the New Testament, Hebrews 11 is dedicated to the faith life of those who walked with God from old. Remarkable among them is Abraham who is called the Father of all who live by faith in God - Rom 4:16, Gal 3:7. Father Abraham according to our opening scripture was strong in faith. This means it is possible for faith to be weak or strong.
We are not only told that Father Abraham had strong faith in God, we are also shown what made his faith strong. He considered the word of God over his predicament and refused to stagger at the promise of God through unbelief. He was so fixated on the word of God that He began to give Glory to God for the performance of the Word in his life when nothing had happened yet. He chose to focus on the Word of God rather than the situation and that is strong faith.
Strong faith does not only acknowledge the promise of God, it does not also see the problem. Strong faith gives Glory to God rejoicing in the Word of promise in the face of the challenge. It doesn't glorify God when it sees a desired change, it rejoices even if things are getting worse because it has already seen the performance of the Word of God. Strong faith doesn't cry, it rejoices and it is fixated on God's promise.
Walk in strong faith today by setting your gaze as a flint on the Word of God. Never give attention to any situation that contradicts God's Word or promise. Let God always be true in your life and every man and situation a lie.
