Day 350| December 14, 2020 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.

Eph 3:14-15

Religion refers basically to the constant adherence to strongly-held beliefs, values and attitudes. In the English language if a person is said to observe something religiously, it means they thoroughly follow without a break. There are many religions in the world were a person is required to follow legalistically certain practices daily and a Christian can be very RELIGIOUS in many things but Christianity is not one of the world’s religions. Christianity is God’s fellowship with His children. If you can’t call the relationship you have with your biological father a religion then don’t call Christianity one.

A Christian who is religious behaves like this Pharisee; Luke 18:10-12 "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men — robbers, evildoers, adulterers — or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get." The master concluded that this man at the end was not justified upon all his wonderful commitment but the sinner was. The Question is why?

God is not interested in robotic observance of commands without a personal heart to heart relationship with him. Before the Lord Jesus came, people were observing the laws of God like nobody’s business yet they didn’t know him. It was the master who came to reveal God and made it possible for people to know him. The salvation He brought makes us God’s children and gives us the ‘Zoe’ of God to be able to know him (John 17:3). God is now our father and as our opening verse said we are family now.

Eternal Life or the Zoe of God gives man the ability to know and fellowship with God intimately without the sense of being inferior (John 17:3). The Christian must therefore not be legalistic in adhering to laws and commandments but rather yield to the leading of the Spirit. Any legalistic following of norms without a clear relationship with the Father is religion and it is dead! God calls us children now and wants to relate with us as such. Be opened to him and talk to him from your heart. If you have any need or lack tell him and get the help you require. If you don’t know how to go about something tell him He will show you. Pray for extended periods of time daily because you love the fellowship of your Father and not as if satisfying the requirement of a master who demands certain hours of prayers daily without which you are not in good terms.

I am a child of God and relate with him as such. I have a real relationship with God. I stay in prayer for long not because He requires it but because I love Him.
