One of the signs the Lord gave for the last days in Matt 24 was on the love of many growing cold (love for God and other men) and true to that, a few years into the installation of the church, the church in Ephesus was already down with their first love. The Lord said to them: Revelation 2:4 NIV
Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.
The challenge for the last day Christian would be whether we would love God and stick to his purpose or love the world and go with its flow or like many people, be somewhere in between. Like Demas, many potential generals of God will even forsake the ministry because of a little pressure here and there and go for the so called enjoyment of the world (2 Tim 4:10) which according to scripture is passing away (1 Cor 7:31).
The desire of the Spirit of God is for you to grow in your love for God and people as well as become fervent in your pursuit of knowledge concerning the will of God. This is what will propel you to live the life heaven expects of you but this is never without a challenge. You will have to at the same time mute the voice of the pressures which comes from the world which is the lust of the flesh, eyes and the pride of life: swimming in the pleasures the world offer.
The failure of many to mute the voice of the world whiles growing in their love for God, his will and people has led to the production of many lukewarm, halfhearted, powerless bunch of people who shout Jesus but lack His virtue and grace. Make a decision today to make growing in your love for God and people the pursuit of your life and never develop taste for this passing world
