📜 THE GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM 📜

_______

Day 45 | FEBRUARY 14, 2021 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

_________

Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. And He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called 'benefactors.' But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves

Luke 22:24-26

The way we are socialized in this world has a great way of affecting our mindset. Right from primary school, we are taught to be first in class and receive rewards and that becomes the pattern through to the end of the educational ladder. Students who come last are considered dumb without taking cognizance of their peculiar abilities. It is always a rat race of who is the smartest, fastest, the most intelligent and so on. This builds in people the desire to be acknowledged, the tendency to compete and crave for greatness.

When people become God’s children, some carry this attitude of the world along and it shows up in their want to be acknowledged by people. They want everybody in the church to know they contributed this and that to the church; they have this number of church members, they have this outfit etc. all these they do to make men applaud and celebrate them. Some even use the number of hours spent in prayers, the number of miracles to measure how great they are in the kingdom.

All these seemingly better outward appearances of men are not a measure of greatness to God. I must say that according to scripture the most appreciated and exalted among men is most of the time foolishness to God and doesn’t count very much. Men look on the outward, but God looks at the heart. Some erroneously assert that the proof of Elisha receiving a double of the spirit of Elijah is the doubling of the miracles of Elijah in his Life yet according to Jesus the greatest of all of them born of women before Christ is John the Baptist who did no miracle and even died at a premature age.

Matt 11:11 verily I say unto you, among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. The master did not mince words. John was greater than Moses who split the sea. Now tell me what was the masters scale for measuring greatness? Faithfulness in Service to do what you are given to do by God irrespective of its magnitude or popular appeal is what counts for greatness with God. Be humble and stay with the call of God.

___________

// 🗣SAY BY FAITH

I serve God with all that is in me and I do all things as unto God and not to men because He alone is the just rewarder of my labour on earth. I don't compare my efforts with others as a measure of greatness.
