Day 351| December 15, 2020 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

‘For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.’

Titus 2:11-12

There’s been a rise in recent years on ‘the teachings of GRACE’ in the body of Christ' atleast in Ghana . This surge of teachings has also resulted in the proliferation of various teachers on the above theme many of which are young, energetic, studious and very radical. But as men in every move of God will have it, this has led to many excesses: this new teachers of Grace in attempting to hit very hard at ‘teachers of salvation by works’ have also found themselves in extremes.

The ‘Grace message’ is actually not a message but the gospel of the Lord Jesus. It reveals Jesus as the manifestation of God’s love to the world. It shows how God saves all men everywhere irrespective how bad or self-righteous they’ve been. Their past is rubbished and deleted as they are baptized into Christ and made New creation without any past outside of Christ (Eph 3:20). Not only that; they are made children of God as joint-heirs with their Lord and saviour Jesus Christ: a position that makes them have authority over all things made by God visible and invisible being subject only to God. Now tell me; what news could be better than this? that is why it is called Good news.

But besides all these freebies, Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. Teaching that people are righteous by Grace is truth. Teaching that salvation is not by works is truth. But that is not all there is. The complete truth also says that we have a new nature from God by grace and cannot live contrary to this new nature we have of God. We need to also teach that the Christian must take advantage of the grace of God to mature out of the beggarly elements of this present evil world like Jesus their Lord: tempted in every point but without sin!

We need to show the people of God that they are required to grow in the things of God unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Don’t say: ‘Grace appeared to all men’ and end it there, continue to also say: ‘Grace teaches as a certain life style’. Presenting half-truths to the Church will raise a powerless bunch of people who know too much but have little or no results. An example of this is teaching that fasting doesn’t bring ‘Power’, and ending it there; but we know that without fasting you may be too sensual to get results. Am yet to see a ‘Grace’ minister so consistent in the things of the supernatural who doesn’t live a fasted and a devoted prayer life so why the contrary half-truth?

By Grace I am saved, By Grace I mature out of the beggarly elements of this world. Grace is my Life and energy for the Godly and excellent life in Christ.
