Day 352| December 16, 2020 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

‘For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.’

Titus 2:11-12

The Grace of God teaches that the Christian; has been made godly: escaped the corruption that is in this world through lust: has been made unconditionally righteous and is not of this world. At salvation, the old man with its nature and weakness were put to death. This is what water baptism depicts when a person is dipped in water: it signifies the death and burial of the old man. When brought out of the water, the new man who is after God in nature is born. (nb: water baptism depicts the spiritual death, burial and birthing of the new man).

So the Bible says expressly (2 Cor 5:17): ‘Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new’. Everything about the old life is gone and doesn’t wield any controlling power anymore in the life of the Christian. If this man was an addict to anything before salvation, it has lost all its power over him in a twinkling of an eye. At the same moment, if the old man had any business with the devil, it is annulled and the devil is legally dethroned and made subject to the New Creation. All these happen at the same time without any efforts of the man whatsoever that is why it is called GRACE. They were all achieved for us by the Lord Jesus.

But, the gospel is not just theories (1 Thess 1:5): ‘For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake’. When we just talk without a true reflection of this in our lives; we are not fully yielding to the grace of God. What Christ did must clearly be seen in us. The new God nature must be seen in us not just talks: which is great by the way.

Let’s take a clue from Jesus, the first son of God; He said the Spirit of God was upon him and He proved it by His miracles the very day He said that. He said (John 14:30): ‘the devil has nothing in me’ and He never succumbed to any of His temptations. He was tempted in every way the Bible says but never did wrong. He is our example for living and as He is so are we in this world today. Let’s go forward and express the very life He obtained for us the way He expressed His; in a sober, godly, and righteous manner in this present evil age not living and talking carelessly as the people of the world do; this is what grace teaches!

I express the divine life I have in the manner my Lord expressed His. He is my first model in Life. I live blameless, soberly and godly in this present evil world by the power of the Holy Ghost.
