Day 52 | FEBRUARY 21, 2021 | Apostle Gideon C Boateng

You know what I was like when I followed the Jewish religion-how I went after the Christians mercilessly, hunting them down and doing my best to get rid of them all. I was one of the most religious Jews of my own age in the whole country and tried as hard as I possibly could to follow all the old, traditional rules of my religion.

Gal 1:13-14 (TLB)

Our opening verse is about Apostle Paul. He was recounting in the above verses how zealous He had been as an unbeliever. As an unbeliever He went after Christians mercilessly, hunting them down and doing everything to get rid of them till He encountered the Lord. He even travelled from city to city persecuting the church. His passion as a Pharisee was unparalled.

The best part of Apostle Paul’s story is that He maintained His zeal even after He was saved. Only this time His zeal was rightly directed. Instead of fighting, killing and arresting Christians, He became a missionary of the Lord. He travelled to places saving whole towns and villages and speaking boldly for the Lord. He was so passionate that even some Christians became afraid for Him. In his own writing He said ‘But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 11 Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed’-1 Cor 15:10-11.

Just like the Apostle, many Christians were very zealous when they were not saved. They did all sorts of things whiles in the world but the question is, are they as zealous for the Lord as they were when they were not saved. Not so for many Christians. Now, they would scarcely do a thing in the church and for the Lord but was doing everything when they were unsaved. This is a wrongly directed zeal. If you can be zealous for other things but not the Lord, your zeal is wrongly directed.

It is time for all of God’s children to start being passionate about the things of their Kingdom and their Father: doing beyond what they have done in the past. Like Apostle Paul, let’s give our all for the Lord. Let’s take territories for the Lord. Let’s not stop at anything for the Lord because it definitely is the best venture we can be involved in.

I direct my zeal for the Lord and His Kingdom. I am passionate for the salvation of the world and I sacrifice quality time and resources for this venture
